All things considered (e.g., features including an accurate built-in hygrostat, extraction rate, warranty), the Cosmo Prime® Dehumidifier offers a lot for its price!
Since it uses the same compact shell as the Cosmo Prime Purifier, we can personally vouch for the sturdy build quality.
And compared to the similarly priced Delonghi Air Dehumidifier DEX14, the Cosmo Prime® Dehumidifier has a larger water tank (3.2L vs 2.1L) for almost the same coverage and extraction rate too!
It would be a perfect fit for an apartment or larger rooms ( 80m²coverage)! And in case you do want to run it while you’re sleeping, there is a sleep mode!
As it can achieve a humidity drop from ~90% to 40% if you use it overnight! With it, you can keep your pets cool, dry laundry faster and banish mildew!
Besides the use of R290 refrigerant, the washable filter makes this dehumidifier economically and environmentally more sustainable in the long run. Did we mention there’s a 5-year warranty as well?
There’s also no need to worry about children with the child lock, or overflow from the water tank (e.g., full tank alert, auto-stop, drainage hose, etc).
For even further reassurance on its reliability, the Cosmo Prime® Dehumidifier is CE certified (i.e. it meets EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements)!

And if the tank does get full, the dehumidifier automatically shuts off on its own. The dehumidifier is also easy to use.
It doesn’t hurt that the exterior is so stylish either! Some users return to get a second or even third unit! Do take note of the measurements before getting this. One user was surprised by how large it is.
When it’s in operation, it only produces a low buzz at the lowest speed setting. Which is not obvious! It does release some warm air though. Which is not unusual for a dehumidifier.
Basically, you can’t go wrong with the Stadler Form Albert Air Dehumidifier if you’re looking for a high-quality compressor dehumidifier to maintain a humidity level of 50% within your home!

Users like that it is quiet and has a humidity display. The control panel makes it easy to select options too.
The removable and washable filter at the back of the dehumidifier does require some cleaning from time to time. Twice a week if you use it regularly. Or once a month.

Letting the water drain out continuously is possible with the Firenzzi Portable Dehumidifier FDX-2500.

9. Xiaomi Deerma Rechargeable Mini Dehumidifier
About the size of a small water bottle, the Xiaomi Deerma Rechargeable Mini Dehumidifier feels solid and can be held in one hand.
It uses a ceramic heating plate to remove moisture in the air. Along with 600g of orange desiccant granule beads to absorb that moisture.
These turn dark green or black when fully saturated (one days’ use in a very humid area)! You might need two of them so that you can rotate them!
And they can become saturated (green) in as fast as 1 to 2 days! As one user observed after placing it in a closed cabinet.
Another user compared this to the Mijia Sothing dehumidifier. And found it more effective!
Since you can reuse the beads again (after they dry out):
This is a more economical (and environmentally-friendly) way of keeping your things dry. Instead of using numerous individual desiccant packs!
The size of the humidifier makes it highly portable and versatile! Users have even keep the humidifier in their closet. Or use it to prevent camera lenses from getting moldy!
Its area coverage is much smaller (5 m²) compared to other humidifiers in this list! If you need something larger, consider the next item on the list (Samu Giken Portable Mini Dehumidifier).

Types Of Dehumidifier
The direct opposite of a humidifier:
Dehumidifiers have different ways to decrease humidity. Each type has its own limitations. Mainly, in the amount of water that they can remove from the air!
There are dehumidifiers that are designed for rooms. As well as whole house dehumidifiers!
1. Refrigerant-Based
These condensing dehumidifiers /compressors work by sucking air in so that the air is forced over cool coils that contain refrigerant. Which causes moisture in the air to condense. Where it will collect in the water reservoir tank of the compressor.
If this process sounds familiar, that’s because air conditioners and portable air conditioners work in a very similar fashion!
2. Chemical Absorbent Dehumidifier
Another name for chemical absorbent dehumidifiers is desiccant dehumidifiers.
They work by drawing air into a material (i.e. desiccant) that can absorb water from the air. These usually cannot remove as much moisture as the previous type of air dehumidifiers.
But can be much smaller than refrigerant-based dehumidifiers!
3. Thermoelectric Dehumidifiers
Thermoelectric dehumidifiers can be very quiet. They have plates of different metals. And when an electrical charge passes through these plates, the metal heats up at different rates. So one plate will be hotter than the other.
Forcing the moisture in the air to condense at the cooler plate. Again, not as effective as a refrigerant-based dehumidifier. But they are cheaper!
What To Look For In A Dehumidifier
The most important aspects of selecting the right dehumidifier:
Is the size of the area you wish to use it in. And the area’s respective humidity level.
1. Dehumidifier Capacity And Area Of Coverage
There are 2 factors you can look at to determine the effectiveness of a dehumidifier. Without testing it out physically!
The first, is the area of coverage. Measured in square meters.
And the second is total amount of liquid that a dehumidifier can remove from the air within one day (i.e. liters per day).
2. Water Tank
Naturally, the water tank is directly related to dehumidifier capacity. If you don’t fancy emptying out the water tank frequently, then a larger water tank may be more convenient.
However, a bulkier tank may hinder the ease of emptying it out too! This is only a problem if the dehumidifier has no other way of getting rid of the water on its own!
Which brings us to the next point:
3. Drainage/ Pump Or Without Pump
Dehumidifiers may have an outlet (to connect a hose to) for the water to leave the tank and flow to the nearest floor drain.
Or a pump to direct water up and out to your sink or even a window at a faster rate.
All while the dehumidifier is running.
4. Other Welcome Features
- Handles and wheels – to enable you to move the dehumidifier around
- Digital display
- Water level alert
- A filter
- Filter indicator – to let you know when it’s time to change the filter (if any)
- Humidity level monitoring (i.e. built-in humidistat)

Conclusion
For larger rooms, the best air dehumidifiers in Malaysia 2021 you can get are the compressor or refrigerant-based dehumidifiers. Like item 1 on this list!
