ROIDMI Eve Plus Review
Now on to the review of the ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum!
It took about 6 days for the package to reach my home (via FedEx) from Hong Kong. Your experience might be different.
Both the Robot Vacuum/ Mop Cleaner (Host Machine) and the Cleaning Base (Dust Collector) are neatly packed into one main box, with their individual boxes side by side.
Accessories
After unwrapping the boxes, you should get the following accessories:
- Charging cord
- 10 disposable mop pads (white)
- 1 mop pad (grey)
- Filter
- 4 dust bags
- Manual – Clear with pictures, and in 7 different languages (including English but not Malay or Chinese)
Unfortunately, there are no spare brushes. But all of the accessories, the robot vacuum cleaner and respective dust collector are well made. With rounded edges and no dents or scratches!
The water tank is durable and more importantly, it does not leak!
Battery Life Of The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
Seeing that the average Malaysian home size is ~117sqm (1264 sq ft), the ROIDMI Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner has more than enough runtime! Even for large home owners!

- 250 minutes’ long runtime (up to 250sqm)
It takes roughly 1 hour to charge from 80% to 100% (when you get it, it is partially charged already). Starting from 0%, the battery takes about 5 hours to reach 100%.
50 minutes of cleaning (Standard sweeping and maximum mopping) takes up ~20% battery life. On a full charge, it can clean for about ~230 minutes.
However, if you just vacuum (without mopping), the runtime from a full charge can reach ~245 minutes.
And the robot vacuum automatically returns to the dust collector (which acts as the home base) for charging when the battery is low or after cleaning.
When it is finished charging, it will resume cleaning on its own, from the same spot it left earlier!
LDS Laser Navigation For The ROIDMI Eve Plus
The Roidmi Robot Vacuum Cleaner uses a LDS laser system along with its algorithm to map its environment.
It made a pretty accurate map of my home (95% accurate). The mapping speed takes around 5 minutes for a room size of 3m2.
Cleaning Base (Dust Collector) Of The ROIDMI Eve Plus
This auto dust station is actually very convenient. You don’t have to get your hands dirty! And the robot vacuum cleaner returns to the base automatically to empty out the dust bag on its own!
Furthermore, the dust station has a built-in sterilization & deodorization system. Within 12 seconds, it can sterilize the hair, dust mites, and harmful microbes that might trigger allergies.
Touching the LED screen of the dust collector station will trigger the dust collection function. You can also start the dust collection from the app.
If the bag is full, there is an icon on the display of the dust collector to remind you that the dust bag is full.
However, after using the robot vacuum cleaner for 5 days straight, I still didn’t need to empty out the dust bag.
But for the sake of the review, I did anyways. And it was very easy to remove and reinstall the dust bag.
Companion APP (Mi Home) For ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
Set up is easy enough but requires a reliable internet connection. There are instructions to guide you in the manual book.
From the Mi Home app, you can monitor and control the following:
- Dust disposal station – start dust collection or schedule automatic dust collection
- Cleaning path – you can see where the robot has been (and where it has avoided furniture)
- Vacuum duration – there are minutes to show how long the robot has been working for that particular session
- Remaining battery life – this is where you can see that 25 minutes of cleaning takes 10% of battery life
- Area cleaned –the app totals the area (sqm) that the robot has cleaned
And then, there’s custom cleaning! Which enables you to create partitions in a room, and even set restricted areas that the robot vacuum cannot enter!
It is very helpful for those who are not at home (e.g. working mums) and want to control the robot vacuum remotely.
You can schedule cleaning sessions too but I prefer to do it when needed. Cleaning is unpredictable with a toddler around!
Cleaning Performance Of The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
Aside from being cleaner, my house does seem to smell fresher!
1. Vacuuming
Roidmi Eve Plus has side brushes to accompany the vacuum function so it sweeps and vacuums at the same time! The rotation speed and vacuum mode are auto adjusted.
It boosts up to high speed along the walls or at corners! If you find that your robot does not, it might be that the wall detection sensors have some dust on them.
The amount of dust that it picked up was surprising and much more than anticipated with a suction power of 2,700Pa. You don’t realize how dirty your floor is until you look at the filter!
Long hair (mine is shoulder-length) and loose food crumbs get picked up too. Pet hairs should not be an issue though we have no pets to confirm this.
Furthermore, the robot is low enough to fit under my bed and sofa. On tile floors, it doesn’t leave any scratches. There are no wood or laminate floors in my home.
Since the robot vacuum is quite large (diameter ~35cm) and round, some spots cannot be reached such as narrow passage or corners. This is a common limitation for other robot vacuum cleaners too.
2. Mopping
If you happen to spill drinks on the floor, you can specifically set the Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner to clean just a certain spot with the highest level for suction and mopping (e.g. MAX suction, Large water level)!
PS: This vacuum can mop and vacuum at the same time!
The robot vacuum cleaner has simulated hand mopping, but because you can’t use detergent in the tank, it does not completely remove the smell of spilt food/ drinks even if it does get the stain out.
It does leave a slight water trail as it mops too, but that quickly evaporates! Thanks to the precise water control of the Smart water tank. You can choose the amount of water you want to use through the app.
From observation, this robot vacuum doesn’t auto-detect which areas need extra attention. Not surprising, since it doesn’t have a camera.
But having the vacuum around for daily cleaning is still advantageous.
For my home (40 x 90 ft), a full tank (250ml) is enough to cover the living room and kitchen twice over (for both)! Refilling the tank is a mess-free process too.
Note:
- There are 2 types of mop pads given – the one grey mop pad seems to be made of a more durable absorbing microfibre cloth (more durable). Which I like to use for daily mopping. So I can wash it and reuse them again.
- The other 10 white mop pads feel more like paper, and are disposable. I would only use them if there is a stain which may transfer to the mop. So that I can just throw it away after using it.
Noise Levels Of The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
Using a sound app to check the average noise levels of the robot vacuum in various modes, you can see that it’s not silent. And will be audible as it goes from room to room.
Average sound levels of the Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner:
- Vacuuming – 60 to 78dB
- Mopping – 60 to 78dB
- Auto-disposal – 85dB
When the dust collector is in operation, it is loud but that only lasts for ~12 seconds.
There are four suction levels for sweeping/ suction (QUIET, STANDARD, POWER, MAX):
The QUIET level produces an average 65dB. While the MAX mode reached average 85dB.
For my toddler, the sound the vacuum made did not disturb him. But my newborn niece found it too loud.
Obstacle Avoidance – How Good Is The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum At Detecting Obstacles?
Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner does a decent job of avoiding obstacles. You can see it slow down when it detects an obstacle. So it will not crash into your furniture!
There are times when it gets stuck on something thin like a floor mat. Or the long hem of a curtain, broom bristles, thin wire cables, etc.
Because I do not have any lower areas in my home, I can’t comment on its climbing ability. Although it can climb thick floor mats. The climbing threshold of this robot vacuum cleaner is rated at 2cm.
But just to test it further, I put it on a foldable kids study table and it fell from 5.5cm off the floor when the table legs were folded. But not at 30cm off the floor when the table legs were extended.
If you have stairs in your home, the average step height is around 16-17cm, and the robot vacuum cleaner won’t fall off. I have a friend with the same model who confirmed this!
Maintenance For The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
As far as maintenance goes, the robot comes with brush tool (with a blade) to clean the brush and get rid of any entangled hair/dust. I didn’t observe any hair getting stuck in the vacuum so far.
For the water tank, it is not advisable to use detergent, floor cleaner, disinfectant or any other cleaning liquids in the water tank. The water tank should only be filled with pure water.
The mop pads look durable enough for daily mopping purposes.
Considering that the robot slows down when avoiding obstacles, and that the exterior is made of high quality material, scratches on the surface are unlikely.
It is possible to clean the HEPA filter. Just rinse it with water and make sure it is fully dry before putting it back.
If you need to replace the HEPA filter, you’ll have to order it from China. 2 pieces costs ~RM17 (excluding postage).
Overall Review Of The ROIDMI Eve Plus Robot Vacuum
As a mother of toddler who likes lying on the floor when playing, this robot is so helpful!
Before getting the robot, I will vacuum and mop early every morning (before my son gets up). While rushing to prepare breakfast for my husband. But now, I can just turn it on and cook calmly.
The capacity of dust bin and water tank is sufficient for my home. So I do not need to empty the bin and refill the water very frequently.
Internet connection is not mandatory in order to use the robot vacuum either. It can still work without strong Wi-Fi connection.
However, you do need Wi-Fi to use the app (e.g. selecting different modes, setting the restricted areas, etc).
Because the line connection in my local area is not great, I do need to reconnect (especially after 10-12 hours) the next day.
Conclusion
Anyone who wants to keep their home clean 24 hours a day but is too busy will find the Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner useful!
For instance, mothers with babies/kids, pet owners, or those who are having allergy to dust!
I personally think it is worth it. Although it cannot clean very thoroughly compared to manual cleaning, it still being a very helpful machine for daily cleaning!
