With the best dishwasher in Malaysia 2021, there will be no more fighting over whose turn it is to wash the dishes!
However, you do need to pick the right dishwasher! One that will last and can handle all types of crockery. And that does not need any pre-washing!
See this list of energy-saving models! Don’t waste your time checking out numerous models and reviews for dishwashers in Malaysia! There are over 19 dishwasher brands alone in the market!
Types Of Dishwashers
First time buying a dishwasher in Malaysia?
Here’s what’s available:
1. Built-In
These require professionals to install. To connect them to your existing plumbing system. And to tuck them away seamlessly into your kitchen cabinetry.
2. Portable
This list mainly features this type of dish washing machine. They’re convenient since you can usually move them around anywhere.
Just not too far from the kitchen sink as this is where the water comes from!
3. Countertop
Many portable dishwashers in Malaysia can also sit neatly on your countertop. Their smaller size does limit them to the load they cater for.
But they use much less water (from your tap) than full-sized (24 inches) dishwashers!

The SMS46GI01P Series 4 Free-standing Dishwasher by BOSCH is a classic-looking dishwasher with a stainless steel finish.
The Serie 4 dishwashers from BOSCH generally have good ratings.
You can expect it to be quiet when it’s in operation. It makes hardly any noise during the cleaning process. And squeaky-clean dishes after!
It can do a lot more too. Including drying the dishes! The load sensors will enable the dishwasher to avoid using too much water!
There is also a basket to hold cutlery during the washing process.
So if you can afford it, this is a reliable and quiet dishwasher with drying capability! And we choose this for our top pick for the best standing dishwasher.

2. Bosch SKS62E32EU Serie 4 Compact Dishwasher
Want a more compact dishwasher?
The Bosch SKS62E32EU Series 4 Compact Dishwasher features the same water-saving sensors and AquaStop protection!
It comes in an attractive white and has a stainless steel/ Polinox interior. Of the 6 programs, one is a 40°C program for glassware! You can run it at night with the Eco program.
And you’ll be able to fit 27cm diameter plates and different types of crockery and pans into this automatic dish washing machine! About up to 3 or 4 dinner plates. Despite its space-saving design!
Although there isn’t much room for certain glassware. And wine glasses don’t seem very secure in it.
Performance is quiet and efficient, comparable to standing dishwashers. It leaves your dishes clean and dry.
Installation is easy enough too.
However, if you wish to buy this high quality (can last for more than 6 years, even 9 years!) compact dishwasher, be prepared to spend at least ~RM2,000 for it!
A couple or single pax household will find the washing capacity just right! Families of 4 may even consider this!

3. Electrolux ESF5206LOW Free Standing Dishwasher With Air Dry Technology
Great at cleaning with a flexible spray arm:
Your glassware will be safe with the quiet Electrolux ESF5206LOW Free Standing Dishwasher With Air Dry Technology. It has a dedicated glass mode and soft spokes to hold them!
AirDry Technology:
If you need to dash off somewhere in a hurry, you can decrease the cycle times accordingly! Otherwise wait, and the door will open automatically after the washing cycle is done! For natural drying!
While washing is efficient and the dishwasher is generally easy to use and install (inlet pipe provided):
Sometimes, the automatic AirDry mode or door doesn’t work as they should. And the manual isn’t helpful if you want to enable or disable the auto opening feature.
Another issue is the fixed rack configuration which is fine for dishes. But does not accommodate larger cooking utensils.
The drying performance is somewhat disappointing, and apparently depends on which brand of dishwasher tablet you use.
For the price it retails for, we would prefer a BOSCH dishwasher (like the BOSCH SMS46GI01P Series 4 Free-Standing Dishwasher) to the Electrolux ESF5206LOW Free Standing Dishwasher With Air Dry Technology!

- Quiet
- Long warranty
Cons:
- Expensive
- Large pots will take up all the space for plates
- Drying performance is not as good
- Fixed rack
4. Electrolux ESF6010BW Free Standing Dishwasher
Considered a compact model (55cm):
The Electrolux ESF6010BW Free Standing Dishwasher has families in mind. There is a child lock to stop little curious fingers!
Small to medium sized households of 2-5 pax will save a lot of time with its washing capacity.
It’s easy to use and install! And the bottom layer has sufficient space even for the pot of your rice cooker or air fryer! You can put a lot of dishes in too.
Like the other Electrolux dishwasher ESF5206LOW, the Electrolux ESF6010BW suffers from a fixed tray design.
On the other hand, it has a good washing performance (better than washing the dishes manually!) and is quiet while doing so. It cleans glassware well!
The quick wash just takes 15 to 30 minutes but there is also a standard wash cycle for ~35 minutes.
As a counter top dishwasher, the Electrolux ESF6010BW will also be great for elders or anyone with chronic back pain!
- Type: Free-standing / Portable / Compact
- Capacity: 8 Place Settings
- Program: Eco 50 C°, Autoflex 45-70 C°, Flexiwash 50-65 C°, Intensive 70 C°, Quickplus 30min 60 C°

- Water Consumption: 8.4 Liters/wash
- Power Consumption: 1.25 kWh/cycle
- Dimensions: 60.4 x 55 x 52.3 cm (H x W x D)
- Warranty: 2 years
- Price: ~RM2,200
Pros:
- Effective cleaning (even with the 30-minute quick wash)
- Suitable for households of 4-5 people
- Space-saving (you can put it on top of your washing machine)
- Modern design
- Quick mode is convenient
Cons:
- Louder than other dishwasher models in this list
- May have some soapy residue for items on the top shelf
- Dishes are not fully dry
- No indication of cleaning stage or time remaining
- Fixed tray
5. Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher
This full-sized and quiet (you can run it overnight) dish washing machine from Beko will please wine glass owners! There is a special glass-cleaning function that won’t leave pesky water marks!
And 8 place settings (removable) just for wine glasses!
It’s not difficult to use. Even if it has a variety of washing programs to select from the clear digital display! And will beep gently when it’s done!
With the top shelf, there are 3 different height levels which comes in handy if you have larger crockery to place at the bottom of the dishwasher.
And you may not realize at first, but there is an even higher pull out shelf just for cutlery (it’s not that sturdy though). In addition to the cutlery basket!
The workmanship of the exterior and fittings are good for the price point.
Did we mention that installation is easy enough to do on your own?
But if you had the older version the Beko DFN28R20W, you will not be as impressed with the performance of the Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher!
However, the Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher should still leave your plates glimmering with no trace of soapy residue!
Just remember to pre-rinse items that have stuck bits of food first!
As a test by goodhousekeeping.com showed, the dishwasher works well and is able to save energy and water. But can’t fit much despite the stated place setting.
So we conclude that the Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher will suit small households (2-4 pax) better! And is great value for money at a price of ~RM2,500!
- Type: Free-standing / Portable
- Capacity: 14 Place Settings
- Program: Eco 50 °C, Auto, AquaFlex, Intensive 70 °C, Quick & Shine, GlassCare 40 °C, Mini, Prewash

- Power Consumption: 0.9 kWh/cycle
- Dimensions: 85 x 59.8 x 60 cm (H x W x D)
- Warranty: 2 years
- Price: ~RM2,500
Pros:
- Saves energy and water (Energy Efficiency Class: A++)
- Very adjustable upper rack
- Has a cutlery tray at the top
- Great at cleaning
- Large loading capacity
- Has half load function
- Stainless steel tub
- Convenient for wine drinkers
Cons:
- Expensive
- Drying performance is not as great
- Smaller actual capacity than stated
6. Beko DFN05R11W Freestanding Dishwasher
Skip the frills with the basic but highly functional Beko DFN05R11W Freestanding Dishwasher! It looks good too!
The Mini wash (35 minutes) is very useful. As is the half load option! And for a maximum load, you don’t have to worry about the cutlery holder getting in the way of the plates!
Cleaning is effective even for a full load, by the way! It runs quietly. And there is a hot wash setting (75°C) if you really want your glassware and silverware to shine!
A cheaper alternative to the Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher but louder and less water-efficient (e.g.,11.5 Liters/wash vs 9.5 Liters/wash) or energy-efficient (13 kWh/cycle vs 0.9 kWh/cycle):
The Beko DFN05R11W Freestanding Dishwasher still meets the needs of small families. And is easy enough for elders to use too! It loads more than the stated capacity (13 Place Settings) suggests!
Though in the long run, we would much rather advise you to take the more energy-saving model, the Beko DFN28R22W Freestanding Dishwasher for RM500 extra!
- Type: Free-standing / Portable
- Capacity: 13 Place Settings
- Program: Eco 50 °C, Intensive 70 °C, Clean & Shine, Quick & Shine, Mini
- Noise Level: 49 dB
- Water Consumption: 11.5 Liters/wash
- Power Consumption: 13 kWh/cycle
- Dimensions: 85 x 59.8 x 60 cm (H x W x D)

Pros:
- Long warranty
- Value for money

- Saves energy (Energy Efficiency Class: A+)
- Adjustable capacity (e.g. upper drawer can be lowered to accommodate bigger cooking utensils)
- You can cancel a running program with the Start/ Stop button
- Comes with a water softening system
- Stainless steel tub
- Easy to use (5 functions only)
- Clear instructions given
Cons:
- Higher water and power consumption compared to other models in this list
7. Toshiba Dishwasher DW-08T1
With such a low energy-saving rating (A+ Energy Efficiency), we can see why the Toshiba Dishwasher DW-08T1 is so affordable!
It also has none of the features you will see with higher end models (e.g. half load, sliding dispensers, etc). And you will not find specific functions for soaking, or intense cleaning!
Promo video:
But as a countertop dishwasher, it’s very roomy on the inside! You may need a specific pipe or adaptor but installation of the inlet hose should be easy.
It’s quiet and with the rapid mode, it can be quick at washing (35 minutes). For stubborn greasy dishes, you may have to use another mode instead (~90 minutes).
There is a drying function too. If you use hot water, the dishes can basically dry on their own.
Obviously, the Toshiba Dishwasher DW-08T1 is meant for small families looking for a budget dishwasher.
But even bigger families of 4-6 pax can find use for it. To wash baby bottles and other accessories. A small pot or pan will fit in.
- Type: Free-standing / Portable
- Capacity: 8 Place Settings
- Programs: 7 (Hygiene, Normal, Eco, Glass, 90min, Rapid, Self-cleaning)
- Body Material: –
- Noise Level: 49 dB

- Power Consumption: 0.72 kWh/cycle
- Dimensions: 59.5 x 55 x 50 cm (H x W x D)
- Weight: 31kg
- Warranty: 1 year
- Price: ~RM1,100
Pros:
- Has a quick mode
- Washes and dries at an affordable price
- Spacious for a countertop dishwasher
- Short warranty
Cons:
- Not energy efficient (low energy-saving rating)
- No extra features (e.g., half load, soaking, etc)
8. Giselle KEA0205 Dishwasher
Certified by SIRIM (Malaysian third party certification body):
The Giselle KEA0205 Dishwasher certainly does not lack in programs! Even if it’s tiny for a dish washing machine! It suits households with 2-3 people.
About 5-6 plates along with some bowls can fit inside at a time. But you can’t really fit pots and pans together since those are larger! And it is kind of fiddly when it comes to utensils!
Promo video:
For water, you can add it in manually into the top funnel each time you need to use it. The dishwasher has a red light indicator to let you know if a refill is needed.
Excess water drains out through a drainage pipe which is easy enough to install. Even with no specific instructions given.
Furthermore, the build is mainly plastic and some parts don’t fit great.
It washes well with strong pressure but uses up a lot of water per cycle for its size (~8L). Which is very inefficient if you compare it to larger free standing dishwashers like the Beko DFN05R11W Freestanding Dishwasher!
Occasionally, the top sprinkler doesn’t work. And dishes are not completely dry. But they are clean. And operation is simple and quiet.
Folks with babies especially appreciate this countertop dishwasher! As it’s very useful for cleaning milk bottles! You can also use it to wash fruit and vegetables too.
Be sure to measure it against your counter top before getting it. It is not as small as it looks!
Demo video:

- Viewing window to check the progress
- Quiet operation
Cons:
- Dishes do not completely dry
- Mostly plastic build
- Instructions are not clear
9. Bosch Series 8 Silver Inox Dishwasher SMS88TI03E
It’s got a hefty price tag but the premium Bosch Series 8 Silver Inox Dishwasher SMS88TI03E boasts A+++ Energy Efficiency.
Which is worth considering if you plan on using this dishwasher daily, and for years to come! Or if you frequently host dinner parties!
But for most households, we think it’s too expensive. And the cheaper BOSCH SMS46GI01P Serie 4 Free-Standing Dishwasher should satisfy most families’ needs and still save energy and water!
A look inside and you’ll find a 3 rack system of stainless steel (this dishwasher uses condensation drying technology) using the easy-glide ball bearing system that is unique to the 800 series.
The racks are highly adjustable with many folding tines (more than the 500 series). And with space for wine glasses!
Right at the top, is a drawer rack is for cutlery and utensils. But it fits shallow dishes with the foldable wings down. Also, this rack can be tilted.
As for the middle rack, it’s not as sturdy as Kitchen Aid dishwashers but is height-adjustable (3 levels).
And if you want more space on the bottom rack, just remove the cutlery basket. But this rack is more suited to plates than pots and pans!
Compared to other BOSCH dishwashers (300 and 500 series), the 800 series are quieter (42dBA). So quiet (except when filling/ draining water) that they have to use a red light below to show you that the dishwasher is on!
Some things to note:
The touch panel is hidden at the top of the door (the writing does fade over time) and unfortunately, there’s no countdown display at the front of the door.
A common complaint with this dishwasher is that drying isn’t as effective without the suggested rinse aid. Nor does the door open automatically after the drying cycle!
However, if you forget a dish, it will automatically pause if you open the door (push start to resume)!
- Type: Free-standing / Portable
- Capacity: 12+1 Place Settings
- Programs: Auto 35-45°C, Auto 45-65°C, Auto 65-75°C, Economy, Pre-Rinse, Quick wash, Super, Night Program
- Body Material: Stainless steel, Lacquered
- Noise Level: 44 dB
- Water Consumption: 6 – 17 Liters/wash
- Power Consumption: 0.65 – 1.35 kWh/cycle
- Dimensions: 84.5 x 60 x 60 cm (H x W x D)
- Weight: 53.8 kg
- Warranty: 2 years
- Price: ~RM5,599
Pros:
- With built-in leak protection
- Quiet during operation
- Huge capacity
- Highly adjustable
- Great washing performance
- Control panel is hidden away from curious little fingers
- Many useful modes (e.g., Half Load, Sanitize, Speed60, Extra Dry, and Rinse)
- Automatic pause lets you add more dishes)
Cons:
- Very expensive
- Drying performance is not that impressive
- Manual does not have a troubleshooting section
- Racks don’t feel super sturdy
How To Choose The Best Dishwasher for Your Kitchen
When you buy a dishwashwer in Malaysia:
There’s a lot more to consider than just choosing one that is easy to operate! Or seeing if its external appearance fits well with your kitchen!
1. Capacity
How much do you want to wash per load? Will the dishwasher be able to fit your largest pot or nonstick pan?
2. Dishwasher Size
Make sure you have a place for your new dish washer. It may need the same spot as your water dispenser!
And if you’re going for a built-in dishwasher, make sure you measure or check with your carpenter:
The size of the cavity that the dishwasher will go into!
This is typically 24 x 24 inches. Or ~610 x 610mm.
3. Washing And Drying Performance
An automatic dish washing machine can have many modes:
- Heavy Duty mode
- Quick Wash mode
- Delay
- Sanitizing mode
- Delicate or Glass mode
- Half load
But will it remove stuck bits of burnt food? Does it need more than 2 hours to clean the dishes?
As for drying, there are 2 technologies used:
- Traditionally with a heating element.
- But European brands are now using a newer technology, condensation by cooling.
Because heating elements can cause any leftover food to get baked onto your dishes! Or plastic utensils to melt!
4. Noise Level
- Above 60dB is not acceptable
- Anything under 50dB is acceptable
- Whereas 40dB is as quiet as you can get for a dishwasher!
5. Certification
If your dishwasher has the following certification:
NSF/ANSI 184: Residential Dishwashers certification
It means the dishwasher can reduce the level of bacteria present by at least 99.999% in sanitizing mode!
By the way:
NSF is an international third party organization that protects and holds the standards for human health. Certifying products from different industries. Including commercial dishwashers!
6. Reliability
A stainless steel tub will last much longer than a plastic one. They’re also better at soundproofing!
And choose brands like Bosch that have been making dishwashers for a long time!
7. Price
Dishwasher prices in Malaysia don’t usually get lower than RM1,000! And the European brands are often twice the price!
For the best built-in dishwashers in Malaysia, prepare to spend more than RM3,000!
8. Other Features To Consider
- Adjustable racks, folding shelves, etc
- Cutlery tray
- Stainless steel interior
- Anti-leak system
- Auto-cleaning
- Dirt sensor
- WiFi connectivity
- Child-lock
- Energy efficient
- Auto-open (door)
How To Clean Dishwasher
Things like grease, food residue and limescale can build up inside your dishwasher. Even if it has an auto-cleaning function!
This grime can make your dishwasher smelly and less effective. Or ruin the filter and pump! Besides being unhygienic!
So like your coffee machine, a deep cleaning is necessary once in a while.
What you can do:
- Always remove excess food from plates before loading them in
- Run the rinse cycle (with the dishwasher empty) and leave the door open afterwards to remove odors
- Wipe down the outside and inside of the dishwasher door
- Rinse out the filter
- Run the normal cycle with just 1-2 cups of distilled white vinegar or cleaning tablets
Conclusion
In our books, the best dishwashers in Malaysia 2021 are made by BOSCH! According to Yale Appliance, BOSCH also makes some of the quietest dishwashers around! For their performance and reliability, they are worth saving up for!
Beko dishwashers are good too. And a little cheaper than BOSCH dishwashers! See our recommendation list for more practical dishwashers for most households! Including affordable options around RM2,000.
