Our Experience
Out of the box, the product quality is decent. The mats have a honeycomb pattern. 3 of 5 pieces have a badge with the Kamatto branding on it.
We’re not a big fan of the plastic and metal badges but at least the logo does not draw too much attention. They are in black and white, and not colored.
What struck us as weird was that the center mat for the backseat row is not symmetrical. The badge on this particular mat had a reversed orientation too. We undid the screws and fixed the orientation.
The individual mats have weight to them although they are still much lighter than another car mat we have used (Enzo car mat).
Out of the available colors, the edging color that we went for is black (out of 10 colours). It blends well with the rest of the car’s black interior.
What surprised us the most is how great the fit of the mats are for our Honda City TMO 2013. The mats don’t move once they are in place. This goes for the backseat mat too.
Note: The backseat car mat does move for the Enzo car mats.
But if you are looking for a car mat that covers the sides too, the Kamatto car mat does not. Moreover, the driver seat Kamatto car mat does not cover the footrest.
Already within a few days of using this car mat, we can see that it traps debris that our shoes pick up. The honeycombs are just deep enough to hold the debris so that they don’t move about.
At the same time, the honeycombs are shallow enough to facilitate easy cleaning. The light weight of the mats is another reason that will make cleaning easier. Unlike the Enzo car mats which are very heavy.
Aside from the weight, there is another obvious difference between car mats of different price range (e.g., Kamatto VS Enzo). The Enzo car mats feel much nicer under your feet than the Kamatto mats.
Read more about our experience with the Enzo car mats.
The Kamatto mats are hard and stiff. They don’t provide any cushioning for your feet at all.
Despite this, you will save a lot of money on a full set of car mats with Kamatto. We got our full set for under RM150. Other car mat brands can go up to RM500+ for a full set.
Conclusion
The Kamatto car mats are not perfect. But they check most of the boxes for us. Like how well the mats fit our car.
And seeing that the price range is under RM200 for a full set, we highly recommend these competitively priced mats.
Especially if you’re not willing to spend a lot of money to replace your car mats but want the look of custom fit car mats.
