2. Trapo HEX II Car Mat
Featuring Japanese anti-bacterial technology, the Trapo Hex II car mat differs from its predecessor (Trapo Hex I Car Mat) in a number of ways:
For one, it’s a lot more durable (an astounding five times) and the lining is makes use of RPET recyclable bottles. Along with badges made of rice husk instead of metal (unless you opt for the HEX Ultimate add-on version).
There is also now a brown variation in the available color options.
Speaking of the Ultimate HEX version, forking out RM200 extra gets you a car mat is even more durable than the Trapo Hex I car mat (double of the Trapo Hex II car mat) with a lifetime warranty attached.
What about the Trapo Classic Mark III which is half the price of the Trapo Hex II car mat?
The Trapo Hex II car mat with anti-slip technology has a better grip than the Trapo Classic Mark III. And because of the hexagonal design of the mat, they trap a lot more dirt (18% more) too.
Overall, it feels like it’s made of sturdier stuff. Besides this, the Trapo Hex II car mat comes with a longer warranty than the Trapo Classic Mark III ( 5 years versus 1 year).
So if you can afford it and want a high quality car mat for heavy use, we think it’s worth investing in the Trapo Hex II car mat.
But if you’re mostly commuting in urban areas, the Trapo Classic Mark III should be good enough for daily use.
Note: If your car floor happens to have eyelets, these mats have hooks that you can fix to the eyelets for a more secure fit.

3. ENZO Car Mat
ENZO Car Mat is relatively new in the Malaysian market, only starting in 2020. The brand originally hails from Singapore.
The car mat comprises of high-grade TPV*. Also certified by SGS, the ENZO car mat is non-toxic and eco-friendly. As the raw material even passes European Union REACH standards!
Note: TPV or Santoprene has the additional benefits of being cheaper to produce, and easier to recycle than other polymer-based materials like thermoset rubber (TSR) or ethylene propylene diene polymethylene backbone (EPDM) rubber (*1).
Besides being non-flammable, the mats are odor-free and very durable! And when they are dirty, you can just take them out for a rinse!
Enzo car mats are well built with superb quality. They feel durable and look nice. And are easy to clean – we have the ENZO car mat ourselves, see our dedicated review on the ENZO car mat.
- Key Features: Heavy Duty, Dual Anti-Slip, Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly, Japanese Anti-Bacterial Technology, Odour-Free, Non-Flammable, Custom Fit For Your Vehicle, Traps Mud And Dirt, Quick Dry, Waterproof And Easy To Clean

- Price: ~RM340 (Without Boot Mat); ~RM550 (With Boot Mat)

- Certified by SGS
- Tailored to fit (i.e. fitting is near perfect)
- Long warranty

4. Trapo Classic Mark III Car Mat
Compared to the predecessor, the Trapo Classic Mark II, the Trapo Classic Mark III Car Mat comes in new color options that include a brown base instead of black or gray, as well as a brown lining color.
In addition to the previous 4 color variations for this custom car carpet.
The padding is thicker (3x more durable), and is can reduce unpleasant odors in your car. The lining uses RPET recyclable bottles.
As with the Trapo Classic Mark II, the material of the Trapo Classic Mark III is a cross between rubber and plastic. Light and of decent quality.
Besides this, the rubber floor mats have grooved channels to segregate moisture from your feet. So the floor of your car will stay dry, providing a non-slip surface.
But while the Trapo Classic Mark III car mat features the new Velcro 2.0 plus Wave anti-slip design – where the previous issue was that the car mat does not stick firmly after a while (I.e. the Velcro weakens with repeated removal):
Note: This issue is also not present in their Trapo Hex version, which uses Trapo Fix instead of Velcro strips.
It still uses Velcro as the attachment method. And over the long run, regularly removing and replacing the mats for cleaning could damage your original car floors.
So we wouldn’t suggest getting this car mat if you expect your car to get dirty frequently.
Because any dirt that it retains is very obvious. And it is very good at trapping dirt except for an exposed section in the driver side car mat.
But if you’re able to keep it clean constantly, the Trapo Classic Mark III car mat does indeed look great in your car.
And at ~RM229, this is still one of the most affordable custom-fit car mats in Malaysia. Search for your specific car model and you may find a Trapo Classic Mark III Car Mat that will fit your car!
Note: Alternatively, you can choose to get the Trapo Fix for Trapo Classic Mark III during the customization. But with an additional cost (~RM199) for the whole set – if you’re gonna do this, just get the Hex II version (similar price) for 5 years warranty too.

- Many color options available
- Inexpensive option for a custom-fit car mat

- Comes with a carrier bag
Cons:
- Quite thin
- For long distances, the mat can feel hard under your feet.

- Depending on your car type, the fit of the mats may be a little small
- The base version still uses Velcro (unless you upgrade to Trapo Fix) – Velcro can damage the floorboard if frequently remove

All you have to do to clean them is to separate them and give them a good shake! And you can rinse the bottom layer with water too!
Users find the 2-layer design easy to clean. And great at containing dirt! The mats do not smell and are tough!
Unlike other car mat brands (Trapo or 3D Kagu), the Dodomat keeps the dirt out of sight! However 3D Kagu car mats still fit better when it comes to the resting area (left foot) at the driver side.

- Inadequate coverage for driver side
6. 3D Kagu Car Mat
From RM560 and only available in black:
They cover a huge range of car models.
Spills and dirt will not be an issue with the triple-layer protection and carbon surface finish of the mat!
In more detail, the top layer uses of SGS Certified thermo-plastic rubber for a carbon fibre texture. That is weather-proof! The layer beneath that is comfort foam to absorb excess impact to your feet.
While the final layer is anti-skid (MAXpider). Which prevents the car mat from shifting around! But this can make removing the mats (for cleaning) a struggle! Use a vacuum instead!
As for coverage:
The 3D Kagu Car Mat has an exceptional fit (3D contour). Even the driver mat includes that odd rest area for your left foot. Something which other custom car mat brands struggle with!
Like Trapo car mats, any dirt that gets caught on the mat is visible. Since the top layer of the mat is flat.
On the whole, if you want a professionally-made car mat that looks and feels premium, this is it!
However, some users still finds that this car mat is not soft enough. But there is another softer option, GLORY Car Mat. Even if it’s more expensive!

- Better coverage than other car mat brands
Cons:
- Expensive
- A little bit slippery
- Dirt is visible
- Only one color option
- Still not soft enough for long distance travel

Tips on Choosing the Right Car Floor Mat
Because there are many types of car floor mats that you can get in Malaysia!
And like choosing a car battery, you need to find a suitable fit for your car!
1. Material Types
Floor mats can come in any of the following forms:
- Rubber
- Vinyl
- Synthetic carpet
- PU leather
Of these, rubber is usually the most durable and heavy. They’re not the most attractive but are easy to clean and are spill-proof!
Just don’t leave them out in the sun where they can degrade fast!
Next is vinyl. Cheaper than rubber and comes in many colors. Although they may not last as long as rubber, they’ll still keep the floor of your car clean and dry!
Lastly carpets, the stylish option. Carpets add to the general comfort for passengers in your car too. While providing an anti-slip surface.
But carpets are notorious dirt magnets! So have your cordless vacuum on standby!
Whichever type you choose, the bottom should have an anti-slip base.
2. Size
Of course, you want the floor mat to fit your car nicely! With as little overlap as possible to prevent tripping!
There are typically many sizes for sale online. So make sure to only purchase cat mats that are based on your car model. Don’t hesitate to ask the seller for the best fit!
And depending on your needs, you can get car mats for the front, rear and even the boot of your car! Thus, some are sold separately. While others come in a set together!
3. Cost
If the cost is lower than you expect, don’t expect the floor mat to last! As it will likely be using poorer quality materials. Or old stock that has degraded!
Don’t forget to take warranty into account!
Conclusion
Need a floor mat immediately? Then grab the MR DIY car mat set! Otherwise, it’s worth spending more time and money for the best car mat!
For quality and durability, we would recommend the Trapo Hex II car mat. For a mid-range option, we recommend the Enzo car mat. But the best budget option is the Kamatto Car Mat.
And if you want to hide dirt in your car, then the Dodo car mat is ideal.
