And like the 70mai Dashcam PRO PLUS+ A500S, you can pair it together with the 70mai RC06 Rear Camera for dual vision!

Although, it may be a better idea to just get 2 of these and use the second as the rear camera (i.e. greater clarity)!

Footage from the 70Mai A800s (at 1600p) is comparable to the Blackvue DR900s (at 4K) or the U1000 by Thinkware. As long as there is no direct sunlight!

But you’ll not have some of the conveniences that come with these premium dash cams (i.e. real time information).

The 70Mai A800s also looks similar to 70Mai Pro Plus+ A500s. And as of Feb 2021, the 70Mai A800 has been replaced by 70Mai A800s. Both still use the same Sony STARVIS IMX415 sensor (front camera).

Indeed, the video quality at night is truly commendable! You get 1080p for both the front and rear camera! A sweet deal for the price!

Note: It would be even better if you had a polarizer for the lens to reduce glare.

Plus, you can set it to save details like the record date, time, location and speed!

This dash cam may also have a display screen but you can barely see it in glaring daylight. Luckily, it can reliably connect to your phone via Bluetooth!

The parking function could be better as the buffered parking suffers from some inconsistency. However, the low-bit parking mode should be enough for most users.

Do not cheap out on the micro SD card! This dash cam requires high endurance cards. A 64GB card can save slightly more than a week’s worth of footage from both front and rear cameras.

The cable for the rear camera is not easy to hide under trimming (i.e. too thick). And the app is difficult to connect to. But once, you get it going, it makes transferring files a breeze!

This dual vision camera is Thinkware’s (from South Korea) flagship model into the 4K UHD video territory. With 2K for the rear camera!

Most dash cams don’t even give you 1K for the rear camera, let alone 2K!

The Thinkware Dash Cam U1000 With Rear Camera is able to deliver clear front footage even at night!  Thanks to the Sony STARVIS Image sensor. It can double as a driving assistant too!

One other key feature is that you can view live footage remotely via cloud storage! And you will even receive notifications if there is any impact to your car!

Despite coming out much earlier than other dash cams (2019), the Thinkware U1000 is still a fantastic dash cam and holds its own against rivals like the Blackvue dash cams!

While Blackvue has the upper hand when it comes to software (cloud connectivity and features):

The Thinkware U1000 still has better 4K video quality than either the Blackvue DR900S or X. The video quality is comparable to the VIOFO A129 Pro.

It is able to record the entire incident (if any) while your car is parked (requires hardwiring)! With the timelapse, impact and energy-saving modes.

The addition of the unique radar module has further improves long term parking surveillance.  By waking up dashcam for a higher chance of recording an incident before it happens!

In conclusion, the Thinkware U1000 has great hardware. We also appreciate minor details like the conveniently placed emergency button, quick-release mount, adjustable lens angle, etc.

The software could use improvements (i.e.to reduce false reports and numerous voice alerts, better cloud connectivity) but these will hopefully be resolved in the future!

And you can expect the Thinkware U1000 to last a lot longer than other dash cams too!
