However, the Bear Health Pot Electric 1.8L Glass Kettle BHP-W18L has a glass strainer instead of the stainless steel that comes with the smaller Bear Health Pot Electric Kettle YSH-A15W6
Note: If you use the glass strainer or glass double boiler, these will displace some of the liquid so essentially, you really get less than 1.5L of liquid with the BHP-W18L after boiling.
Both of these kettles have a similar design – glass with plastic handles, and a flat base with 20 pre-set functions (in English and Chinese). One of these options is to boil water, and at full, the BHP-W18L takes around 8 minutes.
While it’s convenient to use, what we don’t really like about the Bear Health Pot Electric 1.8L Glass Kettle BHP-W18L is the silicone adapter ring.
The ring is useful as a non-insulative handle for holding the strainer or double boiler. But you can’t put the strainer or double boiler inside the BHP-W18L without using this ring.
Hence, the silicone does come in contact with steam and the heat from the steel of the lid. We feel like this could be a health concern for long term use.

Even the lid is stainless steel, not just the body! And nothing escapes that lid once the lock is down! This is a good bargain for an electric kettle with a Strix thermostat!
With this electric kettle, it only takes 3 to 4 minutes to boil water. But is quite loud while boiling.
Be careful not to go over the max line or water can spill out while boiling. In addition, the cover of this kettle is quite wide and unobtrusive, making it easy to clean.
For small households with less than 5 people, the Toshiba KT-17SH1NMY would be a good choice.

Furthermore, the boiling button isn’t very responsive. You may need to press it a couple of times before you can turn the kettle on.
In comparison to the Xiaomi Mijia 1A, this smart electric kettle allows you to monitor and even set the desired temperature (for up to 12 hours) using the Mi Home App via Bluetooth (not WiFi).

Plastic interior kettles are neither safe for your health nor long-lasting. Which is why we personally prefer stainless steel kettles over kettles lined with plastic. Even if the plastic is food grade BPA-free plastic! Because any plastic will eventually degrade with frequent use and high heat.
304 Food Grade Stainless Steel is what we specifically look out for when we choose an electric kettle.
The only downside of stainless steel (besides the higher price points) is that stains and spots can appear if you don’t wash them frequently!
Other than steel, there are glass kettles. And glass kettles can look great but there is always the risk of dropping and breaking them.
2. Speed
If the water takes a long time to boil, you might as well be using a conventional kettle over the stove! Most electric kettles can boil water within 3-4 minutes.
