First Impressions Of The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner

Packaging lends you to believe that the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner is a premium product. It does feel like one with its weight and solid build.

There are no rough edges on the finishing either.

The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner comes with the main body and two heads – one with a bristle brush, and the other with a nozzle.

If you like minimalist designs, you’ll like the look of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner. It has an inoffensive simple profile (just a cylinder basically).

And the dark grey will not clash with the interior of most cars and homes.

How Light Is The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner?

The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner is small enough to keep neatly in a car. But it definitely has some weight to it.

Because of this, it’s not something we want to bring with us everywhere we go. We usually just keep ours in the house.

That said, there are heavier models of portable handheld vacuum cleaners in the market. Compared to the Xiao-mi Mi Vacuum Cleaner, the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner is much lighter.

How Versatile Is The MIUI Portable Mini Hand Vacuum Cleaner?

This is one aspect of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner that needs improvement.

Because the body of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner prevents it from reaching into places (e.g., the low shelves of our TV cabinet, for example).

Furthermore, none of the attachments have a flexible tube to increase the reach of this portable handheld vacuum cleaner.

Both the brush and the nozzle attachment are very short too so you will still be restricted by the overall body of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner.

You can twist the top part of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner to face down but the maximum angle of incline (with the attachment flat on a surface) is always going to be 45 degrees.

There are two settings for the suction strength of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner. We find we seldom have to use the maximum level to get dust, fur, short human hair, or crumbs off surfaces.

The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner is easy to use too as there’s only one button and you just have to press it again to increase the suction strength.

Or hold the button down for a few seconds to switch off the device.

We find that the brush attachment is more useful than the nozzle attachment. The firm brush bristles catch dust and offers a wider surface area compared to the narrower nozzle attachment.

How Noisy Is The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner?

While not as loud as a cordless vacuum cleaner:

The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner produces an audible whine that is not too high-pitched. Skittish animals may be scared of it still.

And naturally, the maximum suction strength is noticeably louder than the base strength setting.

Dust Capacity Of The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner

The dust compartment of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner can hold dust from a few cleaning sessions before you have to clean it out.

It’s an easy matter of twisting the body of the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner to open up the compartment too.

There’s no fiddly dust bag to empty out and we appreciate this aspect.

Battery Life Of The MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner

For its size, you cannot expect a massive battery to fit into the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner.

The battery does run out quickly. It can run continuously for about 15-25 minutes before you need to charge it again. Especially if you use the highest setting (about 15 minutes).

On the plus side, charging doesn’t take long – the battery is fully charged within 2 hours.

MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner Alternative

If weight is not your concern, Xiaomi Mi Portable Vacuum Cleaner Mini is another mini vacuum that you can consider. The build quality is better and suction power is slightly higher (13kPa vs 12kPa) than the MIUI Mini Vacuum Cleaner.

Moreover, the Xiaomi Mi Portable Vacuum Cleaner Mini also has an extra stainless steel mesh filter to filter out larger objects before they pass through the HEPA filter.

But it is double the price of MIUI Mini Vacuum Cleaner. And much heavier (280g vs 500g).

Conclusion – Last Thoughts On The MIUI Portable Mini Hand Vacuum Cleaner

We like the MIUI Portable Mini and Vacuum Cleaner. It works for our needs. Which is just to clear our coffee table, electronics, and TV cabinet of cat fur, dust and crumbs.

However, it’s rigid build makes the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner impossible to get into tiny crevices. Which makes it unsuitable as a car vacuum cleaner in our opinion.

That said, at under RM100, the MIUI Portable Hand Vacuum Cleaner is affordable. And the build quality is good.
